LiGHT – Ladies Initiating Giving – An Honored Tradition

All grant recommendations will be subject to approval by the Board of Directors of The Wells County Foundation, Inc.

Criteria for Awarding Grants

  1. Grant applications must focus on programming which benefits youth and/or women’s issues within Wells County and be for a charitable purpose.  Deadline for submission of grants is:  The last Friday of September.
  2. All grant applications submitted for consideration through LiGHT must comply with the eligibility criteria established for the Foundation’s competitive, unrestricted grant process.
  3. All grant applications will be screened by the Foundation staff for eligibility and reviewed by the LiGHT steering committee.  The steering committee will present all eligible grant applications for membership consideration and voting at the fall meeting on Monday, October 30th.
  4. The following are excluded from consideration:
    • Organizations who received the full amount of funding requested from LiGHT in the previous year.
    • Organizations for religious or sectarian purposes
    • Make-up of operating deficits, post-event or after-the-fact situations
    • Endowment or capital projects and campaigns
    • For any propaganda, political or otherwise, attempting to influence legislation or intervene in any political affairs or campaigns
    • Dinner galas, advertising or other special fundraising activities.
